iPhone Storage... Expandable??
Yesterday I posted a blog about a great product line up of battery cases by a company called Mophie. I know at this point if I post another blog about them people will start to think I am a sales rep for the brand, but I assure you I just want to spread the good word of some amazing products!
One of the biggest complaints for iPhone users is the fact the device does not support expandable memory such as an SD card. Apple makes it very difficult for us to have more space for our pictures, music and apps without paying an extra $100-$120 for 16GB of flash memory. There is another group of people that are willing to pay the extra money for the 64GB model, but still need more space after that.
While researching for answer to a problem that many iPhone users face as well as myself, I came across a couple worth while solutions:
The first option is a Wifi Hard Drive or Cloud Drive. This is an external hard drive that can store anywhere from 16GB to 4TB! More than enough space. While connect to Wifi, you can transfer pictures, songs, etc onto the drive to take the load off your device. These units cost anywhere from $100 and up.
The cons? Well, the unit and iPhone need to be connected to the same Wifi network, not so handy when you need something off the drive when you are on the go. Another downside is that the transfer process itself is fairly slow and can take a while to get information off your device to the hard drive.
Option numero two? You guessed it, Mophie and company has recently created a Storage Case. Modelled after their popular Juicepack cases that give the user an extra jolt of battery power, the storage case adds an extra 16-32GB of storage to your device. FINALLY!!!!!!
Extra battery life? Expandable memory? Want the best of both worlds? No worries, the Mophie Space Pack has the classic Juice Pack technology as well as the extra storage. The battery life has improved on this model giving the user an extra 8 hours of talk time, 10 hours of video playback and 40 hours of music. On the storage side you can have up to 32GB extra space which gives the user the ability to store up to 16000 photos, 9000 songs and 40 hours of video.
But at what cost? Currently you can pre-order this case from the Mophie website for $149 (16GB) and $179 (32GB). I know what you're thinking, you can just buy a 32GB iPhone for the cost of this case, well you're right. Although this case may not be beneficial for the light to medium user rockin' a 16GB iPhone, the storage monster that sports a 64GB might be happy to know that they can transform their device into a 96GB iPhone, which is more storage than Apple currently offers.
Again this case is still not currently available as of yet, so I have not been able to get my hands on it and tell you first hand if it is a solid buy, but once I do a review will be posted.
