The All New HTC One (M8) vs Samsung Galaxy S5

April will show us the release of two of the industry's biggest smartphone line ups, The Galaxy S series and HTC's One series. Estimated release times are varied based on carrier, but both phones will be launching at the end of April.

Here's what we know so far about the "All New" HTC One:

This all metal unibody design has no edges or seams to make this device a comfortable tool to hold. Once again the battery will be built-in and the HTC BOOMSOUND external speakers will be featured.

HTC Sense 6, which is HTC's spin on the Android OS, is loaded with new features:
  • Motion Launch gestures
  • Custom themes and fonts
  • HTC Sense TV sports that features real time sports scores and stats
  • HTC BlinkFeed gives you your own personal news feed from a variety of social media and news websites.
The All New HTC One has been outfitted with not one but TWO rear cameras. With the HTC Duo camera you can use simplified built in UI pro camera effects. "Selfies" will never be more clear with the 5MP front facing camera.

With Motion Launch you can use motions and gestures to open apps, answer phone calls, check weather or the time.

Looking for some accessories? with the HTC Dot view case you can see who is calling you without opening your flip cover case. Swipe to answer or just put it straight up to your ear. The Dot View case will also show you things like the date, time, weather and reminders.

Here's what we know so far about the contender, the Samsung Galaxy S5:

Samsung has also made some enhancements to the Camera as well. With new Autofocus you don't have to worry about having a shaky hand to get a clear picture.

For fitness freaks, Samsung has integrated a heart beat sensor on the back of the phone that will read your pulse from the tip of your finger and input the data in to the S-Health app. Now you can track your steps, miles and heart rate for an accurate recording.

Now you can download faster with the new Download Booster. The booster uses your LTE cellular connection combined with an active Wi-Fi connection download at faster speeds. This allows you to download at speeds of over 100mbps.

The S5 is now dust and water resistant. Resistant, not proof! Samsung will not cover your phone under warranty due to liquid damage, but they claim the phone can be submerged in 1m of water for up to 30 mins. Not bad, we'll take it.

Lastly Samsung has thrown their hat into the security race. The Galaxy S5 will sport a fancy Finger Print Scanner as an added option to their security lock settings. This can be overridden with a simple 4 digits passcode if the phone does not read your fingerprint the first time.

There you have it. Two solid devices loaded with some very impressive features. It will be interesting to see how Apple and Blackberry will answer. Which phone do you look forward to? Post below in the comments section.
