Battery Draining Issues

I hear this more and more every day, "my battery isn't lasting as long as it used to". The sad truth is, they are right and your battery will not last anymore. As our automobiles are becoming more efficient with gas mileage, our cell phones are becoming more wasteful with battery life.

As our smartphones are becoming more advanced and packed with more great "Smart" features, our batteries are being sucked dry. Unfortunately doing the usual troubleshooting steps off turning bluetooth, wifi, location services and any other background applications is like putting a band aid on the situation and only temporarily solving the problem. This big cell phone companies need to step up and create a device that can keep up with our busy lifestyles. Yes, we use the phone to it's highest potential, so we need it to last longer than 4 hours.

Below is a list of the most popular smartphones and what their average battery life is with an average use:

- Apple iPhone 4s (9.25 hours)
- Apple iPhone 5 (7.5 hours on LTE, 8.5 hours on 4G)
- Blackberry 9900 Bold (6 hours)
- Blackberry Z10 (8 hours on LTE, 10 hours on 4G)
- Samsung Galaxy S III (7 hours on LTE, 10 hours on 4G)

The results are staggering. I have used each on of these devices and I can honestly say that these stats are more than accurate.

Don't worry, there is still hope! There actually are smartphones out there that have excellent battery power and are stepping in the right direction. If you can stand to be without your loyal iPhone, email heavy Blackberry or Android loving S III, here are some alternative devices that have great battery power:

- Samsung Galaxy Note II
- LG Optimus G
- HTC One X+

These phones are just as powerful if not more than the big three (Z10, iPhone, SIII). They are also packed with powerful batteries that have anywhere from 2600-3100 mAh, which means more power and longer life. I have also used all three of these devices and I can tell you, with hardcore use of e-mail, apps, browsing, texting and calling I could get through a full day without charging my phone, maybe two days if I took it easy.

So, when deciding on what phone suits your needs, don't go for the device that everyone else has or what looks good on a commercial. Go for the phone that makes sense for you and is going to work when you need it to. Don't complain that your battery life is terrible when the manufacturer clearly states on the box, on the website on in store displays how long the life is supposed to be.

Don't worry, things will get better. Until then, keep your phone plugged in at all times to avoid battery drain :)
